Student opportunities and services

The faculty in the department of Languages, Cultures and Religions understand that excellent education extends beyond the classroom. Whether you want to develop your professional skills, education abroad or become more involved in the department, our faculty support a variety of opportunities for you.

Education abroad programs

Spending time at a university in another country is a vital part of any foreign language program. Our department encourages its students to take advantage of Missouri State University’s Education Abroad programs.

Career Center

The Missouri State Career Center offers a number of services for students, from assisting with the selection of a major to searching for future careers. If you are interested in further determining your skills and interests, consider completing one of the assessments offered by the Career Center and meeting with a career counselor.

Student organizations

Students can get involved on campus and expand their skills through membership in student organizations.

Language clubs

The department also has an active chapter of the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society and Pi Delta Phi French Honer Society.

Religion clubs

  • Religious Studies Club: An organization for people who want to explore, understand and celebrate the diversity of religious beliefs and practices. Faculty advisor: Dr. Micki Pulleyking.
  • Theta Alpha Kappa Honor Society: An honor society in religious studies that participates in the activities of the Religious Studies Club, along with providing academic opportunities for religious studies students. Faculty advisor: Dr. Micki Pulleyking.

Foreign language film nights

The department offers a Spanish film night as well as a multilingual film night to showcase foreign films for Missouri State community.
