Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates for Downtown Employees

A total body conditioning exercise that combines flexibility and strength development, Pilates is a method of controlled movements that look and feel like a workout. The practice of Pilates focuses on alignment and functionality of the human body. Its goal is to create a strong core and help with balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. This is a Mat Pilates class, so there will not be any equipment used. The class is taught as a progression, so each week new exercises will be added that grow more intense and challenging over time. This is a mind/body class that works not only with your body, but also with your mind to promote awareness in both your lifestyle and other physical activities.

Objectives
If practiced appropriately one can:

  • Restore Natural Balance
  • Improve Posture
  • Tone and sculpt the body
  • Improve Flexibility
  • Reduce stress, fatigue, and pain

Equipment Needs
The equipment need for this class is very minimal and optional. Strongly suggested equipment would be: Yoga/Fitness Mat, Towel, and Water Bottle. If one does not have a mat and would not choose to purchase one, we have mats available to use in the class.
