Real-world pitch experience makes a difference for sales management student

"Missouri State has set me on my path..."

Sam Bromley discovered marketing through sales competitions he participated in during high school. So when this St. Louis native arrived at Missouri State, he knew he wanted to join the marketing department's sales management track

"The real-world experience - I think that's going to pay dividends in the future."

He says the program offers unique opportunities, particularly the chance to pitch for sales executives from major companies such as Cintas and Frito-Lay. Sam enjoyed having to sell a project to the execs, and he excelled - earning first place in his group.

He also identifies his professors as being key to his success and appreciates their mentorship. "I've made some lasting relationships for years to come," Sam says, "and they're great resources to know your professors."

When he looks ahead, Sam feels confident. He says, "The real-world experience - I think that's going to pay dividends in the future, and that's going to put me apart from other grads."
