David D. Glass

Glass Hall is named after Missouri State alumnus David D. Glass. Glass, who grew up in Mountain View, Mo., graduated from then-Southwest Missouri State University in 1960 with a degree in business accounting. After working for various organizations in the Springfield area, he took a job with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in Bentonville, Ark. in 1976. In 1984, he was appointed president and chief operating officer.

Glass was promoted to chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 1988, a position he held until 2000. After stepping down from his position at Wal-Mart, Glass became the sole owner of the Kansas City Royals Major League baseball team.

Through the years, Glass has maintained his connection to the University by serving as a member of the Missouri State Foundation board of directors. In 1984, he also received the Outstanding Alumni Award.
