Downtown Assault

On 9/28/13, a female MSU student reported being assaulted in the downtown area. A report was made to the Springfield Police Department that while she was walking in the area of Elm and Jefferson, a male white subject approached her from behind and placed his hand over her mouth. She resisted the subject and ran away from him, however, she then seemed to lose track of time for some period. She notified police when she became aware of her surroundings.

This incident is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.


  • Always walk in groups after dark.
  • Don't get into vehicles with people you do not know.
  • When consuming intoxicants, always have one member of your party that does not drink.
  • If you or a person you know are the victim of a crime, immediately report it to the Department of Safety & Transportation or the Springfield Police Department.
