Vice President for Research and Economic Development

Dr. Jim Baker is the Vice President for Research & Economic Development at Missouri State University. In addition, he serves as Chancellor of the Research Campus at Mountain Grove.

In addition to his university duties, Dr. Baker has served as executive director of the Council on Public Higher Education, board member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, member of the Jordan Valley Park Advisory Committee, member of the Ozarks Technical Community College Regional Technical Education Council, member of the Missouri Learner's Network planning and development group, and past president of the Urban Districts Alliance. Presently, Dr. Baker is a member of the boards of the Missouri Technology Corporation, the Springfield Business and Economic Development Corporation, the Safety Council of the Ozarks, and the Springfield Regional Arts Council.

Dr. Baker received his B.A. in Sociology and his Masters in Public Administration degrees from Boise State University, Idaho. He received his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Idaho.

Tami Sutton is the Executive Assistant to the Vice President.
