Bernard's academic interest are centered on working with students and helping them achieving academic and life goals in order to lead successful lives. His teaching and research interests include ecotourism, sustainable tourism, value of play across generations, leisure education, urban change, and sustainability.

Previous Experience

Bernard professional experience includes working in 5 countries (3 continents) in areas of community development, sustainable livelihoods, ecotourism development, conservation outreach, butterfly farming and outdoor education. Hi teaching experience includes ecotourism, recreation programming and leisure education.

Life Outside the University

Bernard has been researching and consulting on travel and tourism competitiveness in the East African region. Other work in East Africa includes supporting preservation of open spaces and advocating for plays and recreation programming in the large cities.
