Mandatory Tuberculosis Screening for Students and Employees
In compliance with Missouri law, Missouri State University has instituted a targeted testing program that screens new employees (both faculty and staff) and incoming on-campus students (both freshmen and transfers) in order to identify individuals who are at heightened risk for tuberculosis infection. Under this program, new employees and incoming on-campus students are required to complete a state-approved tuberculosis screening survey. Individuals whose survey results indicate risk factors for tuberculosis will subsequently be required to undergo testing for possible tuberculosis infection.
Students are encouraged to complete this tuberculosis screening survey requirement before beginning classes at the university. Students will not be allowed to register for a second semester until this screening requirement has been met. (Note: For purposes of this policy, a student is considered to be an "on-campus" student if he or she is registered for one (1) or more seated classes on the university's Springfield campus. Students who are taking only online courses are exempt from the requirements of this policy.)
Employees will be required to complete this tuberculosis screening survey requirement prior to commencing employment at the university.
This policy will be administered by Magers Health and Wellness Center with cooperation from other offices on campus.
