GENERAL FUNCTION

The Manager of Donor Relations and Analysis, in collaboration with the Manager of Donor Communications and Digital Fundraising, is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the annual plan for revenue generation for Ozarks Public Broadcasting (KSMU Radio and Ozarks Public Television) through individual and major giving to meet organizational goals and objectives. Identifies, engages, and manages donor portfolios to meet goals of both donors and OPB, utilizing various communication mediums and analytics to drive decision making to reach objectives.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media, Communications, English, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience may be considered.

Experience: At least four years of full-time professional work experience in fundraising, direct sales, business-to-business sales, or marketing is required; media marketing, fundraising, or media sales is preferred. Experience with membership programs is required; public media membership programs is preferred. Experience with data and trend analysis is required. A proven track record of deriving insights from large data sets, interpreting findings, and presenting results in clear, concise narratives is required. Experience with list management is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Excellent analytical skills are required. The ability to draw strategic insights from large data sets in order to develop and implement successful fundraising campaigns and strategies is required. The ability to report audience analytics from large data sets is required. Demonstrated organizational skills managing a variety of activities efficiently and professionally to meet deadlines is required. Must be detail-oriented. Must enjoy interacting with people and be a skilled motivator. The ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and payment applications, including the ability to learn new applications, is required. Familiarity with specialized public broadcasting software, including an understanding of membership operations, practices, and procedures is preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines is required. Ability to manage high-level confidential information with integrity and sensitivity is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Other: This position requires occasional travel and evening and/or weekend work. This position transports, without assistance, membership materials and mailing materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. In collaboration with the Manager of Donor Communications and Digital Fundraising, develops, implements, and conducts ongoing evaluation of an annual plan for revenue generation for Ozarks Public Broadcasting through individual and major giving to meet organizational goals and objectives. Annual planning and revenue goal setting encompass strategies for major and mid-level donor relations, on-air pledge drives, direct response (digital and mail), niche fundraising areas, new member acquisition, and member retention that result in higher renewal rates, increased levels of giving, and overall growth of the membership roster.

2. Leads the department’s donor and trend analytics to drive decision-making by collecting, organizing, interpreting, and monitoring membership and donor data to evaluate the effectiveness of the major/mid-level giving and membership programs throughout the year, identify and target peak fundraising opportunities, and make necessary adjustments to meet revenue goals and objectives. Uses analytics for strategic planning and revenue forecasting, measurement and reporting, and to create efficiencies within the department where possible/appropriate.

3. Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of 50-75 major donors ($1,000+) that helps donors achieve their philanthropic goals while meeting the revenue goals and objectives of Ozarks Public Broadcasting. Creates and implements a strategic annual engagement calendar of specific communications, activities, strategies, and asks for each portfolio donor.

4. Ensures Ozarks Public Television meets membership campaign goals by overseeing on-air pledge drives for OPT’s HD (main channel), Create, and WORLD channels. Identifies top performing pledge programs and determines programming schedule in conjunction with OPT’s programming service. Develops and executes print and broadcast promotions, oversees drive-related membership operations (i.e. donation form set-up, answering service coordination, program and thank-you gift code data entry, pledge billing and thank-you gift fulfillment, etc.). Uses historical data and trend analysis to determine revenue projections, and reports results to station leadership and system stakeholders (e.g. Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Public Broadcasting Service, etc.).

5. Coordinates, executes, and oversees niche fundraising areas for OPT and KSMU including, but not limited to, vehicle donations, planned giving, IRA, stock gifts, etc.

6. Completes and submits annual membership department system reports to internal and external stakeholders.

7. Using station and system resources, defines the critical metrics and Key Performance Indicators for the department’s membership and major giving strategies and revenue goals.

8. Ensures accurate membership and donor records by providing oversight and training for staff and volunteers entering contributions and pledges, program preferences, and contact information using specialized public broadcasting software.

9. Serves as the primary liaison between the Membership department and external fundraising support vendors and partners.

10. Serves as the Membership department’s primary liaison with other Ozarks Public Broadcasting departments to ensure effective communication and implementation of cross-discipline projects and processes.

11. Ensures the Membership department’s policies, procedures, and best practices are developed, implemented, and documented.

12. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

13. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts in the community and within the industry, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by the supervisor and/or station management.

14. Contributes to the overall success of KSMU and OPT by performing all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

The Manager of Donor Relations and Analysis may supervise membership staff, student workers, and volunteers.
