GENERAL FUNCTION

The Coordinator, Informatics and Clinical Education-DPT assists with the placement of DPT students into integrated clinical experiences and full-time clinical internships within the full range of physical therapy clinical settings, including acute care, rehabilitation, outpatient, skilled nursing, and specialist areas, both in-state and out-of-state. The Coordinator, Informatics and Clinical Education-DPT provides program support to first, second, and third year DPT students, Clinical Instructors, and Center Coordinators of Clinical Education, data entry and data management related to E*Value, PTCPI Web, PTCSIF Web, and Banner, and produces reports for stakeholders, such as the Director of Clinical Education, Center Coordinators of Clinical Education, the Department Head, Dean, and Associate Deans, the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and state and federal reporting.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience: At least three years of experience working with health programs in a higher education setting or other relevant experience is required.

Skills: Demonstrated organizational and management skills are required.  The ability to work autonomously is required.  Must be detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular, the ability to work with graduate health professions students, faculty, clinicians, and administrators is required.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.  Computer literacy is required.  The ability to learn and use Missouri State University operating systems and infrastructure is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as liaison between the Director of Clinical Education and clinical sites in Missouri and out-of-state in maintaining and nurturing contacts with administrators of approved clinical sites to maintain appropriate placements for full-time internships and integrated clinical experiences for Doctor of Physical Therapy students.

2.  Serves as liaison between the Director of Clinical Education and administrators and clinicians at approved clinical sites by using E*Value software and other clinical education software, as needed, to secure, track, maintain, and disseminate up-to-date documentation related to student requirements (state and federal fingerprint criminal history information, substance abuse screening, required immunizations, CPR certification, physical examination, TB testing, OSHA and HIPAA training, and American Physical Therapy Association membership) required for participation in clinical education activities.

3. Serves as liaison between the Department of Physical Therapy and the Missouri State Volunteer Employment Criminal History Services (MoVECHS) by maintaining status as a Qualified Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) User in order to request and access fingerprint criminal history records required for DPT students to participate in clinical education activities.

4. Completes data entry and data management suties related to E*Value and Banner and creates reports to support state and federal accreditation and internal program review.

5. Completes data entry and data management duties related to PTCPI Web, PTCSIF Web, and other clinical education software specific to individual clinical sites and links students to assigned clinical instructors for assessment purposes.

6. Assists with scheduling first, second, and third year students for supervised integrated clinical experiences in the University Physical Therapy (Pt) Clinic and assists with clinic administrative operations in the absence of the PT Clinic office manager.

7. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

8. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Director of Clinical Education.

9. Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

SUPERVISION

The Coordinator of Informatics and Clinical Education is supervised by the Department Head.
