GENERAL FUNCTION
The Center City Counseling Clinic (CCCC) Director coordinates all activities related to Clinic operations and assures compliance with all applicable city, state, and federal government regulations, the policies and procedures of the Counseling Program in the School of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, Missouri State University, and the standards of all appropriate professional accrediting agencies. This position is responsible for providing an environment in which faculty research may be conducted, and students may, under supervision, observe and participate in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of clients with psycho-emotional disorders, and other psycho-educational activities. The Clinic Director is accountable for fiscal management, staff management and development, delivery of effective services to clients, student practicum experiences and marketing efforts. In addition to overseeing the clinical and fiscal operations of the clinic, which serves as a primary training site for graduate counseling students, the clinic director also engages in teaching and clinical supervision. The Clinic Director is expected to serve in a manner consistent with the public affairs mission of the university, through the three pillars of ethical leadership, community engagement and cultural competence; and with teaching, research and service duties as detailed in the Missouri State University faculty handbook.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or related CACREP-accredited program or demonstrated full-time employment in a CACREP-accredited program prior to 2013 is required.
Experience: Three years of clinical experience in counseling is required; and demonstrated experience in counseling in mental health settings is required.
Licensure: Must hold or obtain Missouri state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor within three months of employment.
Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills, and effective computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database (Microsoft) are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assures a strong counselor education professional identity, through their activities, i.e. association with and presentations to and publications through professional organizations such as ACA, AMHCA or ASCA and/or their affiliates and divisions, and an active engagement and willingness to comply with Council on Accreditation of Counselor-Education Related Programs (CACREP) standards.2. Teaches graduate courses in counseling. Specific course assignments could include counseling skills, practicum and internships, and/or other counseling courses. This position will provide live clinical supervision to master’s students in our community-based counseling clinic.
3. Interacts and collaborates with other academics and school/community counselors while keeping pace with the emerging body of knowledge in counseling. This role will be expected to support research in the clinic including facilitating student involvement in such projects.
4. In Clinic Director capacity, assures compliance with applicable accreditation standards, university policies and procedures, and city, state, and federal regulations by working with faculty to coordinate the student/client practicum schedule each semester.
5. Provides student supervision as required by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), providing client care in accordance with American Counseling Association standards,
6. Directs and operates the clinic in compliance with Department of Counseling, Leadership and Special Education and Missouri State University policies, procedures, and standards, and monitoring compliance with applicable accreditation standards, policies and procedures, and government regulations.
7. Ensures that all required licenses and insurance are reviewed and in force.
8. Assures sound fiscal management of the CCCC by preparing an annual budget request including part-time supervision requirements and annual equipment and materials requests, negotiating service contracts, and monitoring the billing and reimbursement of services provided for timeliness and accuracy, within guidelines established and provided by the Program Director, School Director, and Dean.
9. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion, through experience, teaching and/or publications/presentations.
10. Ensures the effective delivery of services to clients by providing intake, diagnostic and treatment services when necessary, as well as providing supervision for the clinical experiences of counseling students.
11. Serves as an engaged citizen, leader and advocate on various university committees, taskforces and as an individual and work within the professional discipline and broader local, state, national, and international communities. This position may hold or obtain various certifications and licenses beyond minimum qualifications as part of the acquisition and sharing of expertise.
12. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as necessary.
13. Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
14. Contributes to the overall success of the CCCC and the Counseling Program by performing other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION
The Clinic Director supervises the clinical experiences of assigned students.
