Accident Insurance (Voluntary)

Accident insurance helps you pay for those incidents that you can’t plan for. Missouri State offers options for employees to purchase accident insurance.

Cost and coverage

For the cost of a couple of cups of coffee a week, you can help protect your entire family from an unforeseen accident, and help offset some of the costs associated with the treatment.

Services covered

This plan pays benefits for:

  • Hospital confinement
  • Burns
  • Lacerations
  • Fractures
  • And other types of accidents

How to use the benefit

Once you file a claim, the coverage pays benefits directly to you (if you were injured in a covered accident). These funds can be used to cover monthly bills while you were injured in addition to medical bills.

Enrolling and changing

This is a voluntary addition to your other insurance.

You should enroll within 30 days of your start date. This initial enrollment typically happens during orientation.

Each fall, the university participates in open enrollment when you can make changes to your plan, like adding spouse or dependents.

Outside of the open enrollment period, changes can only be made due to qualifying life events (like marriage, divorce or having a child).
