CHPA Department Heads’ Meeting
September 18, 2014

Present: Victor Matthews, Pam Sailors, Steve Berkwitz, Ken Brown, George Connor, Dan Kaufman, Kathleen Kennedy, David Rohall, Troy Wisdom

Agenda Items:

  1. Per Course Instructors – Concern was raised about the additional requirements being placed on per course instructors, the most recent being a required TB test for all instructors who teach seated classes.
  2. Building the summer and fall 2015 schedule – Heads were reminded that a draft schedule is due to the Dean by Nov 3. Preparing the schedule should include a study of past enrollment patterns and should be predicated on student needs.
  3. Sabbatical Applications are due November 3. At this point four or five faculty have stated an intention to apply.
  4. PSIP Applications are due December 12, and eligible faculty are encouraged to look at the instructions at: PSIP Applications web page.

The deadline for submission of summer and fall 2015 intersession proposals is:

Monday, October 27, 2014 from Department Heads to Dean

September 26 “Shattering Silences: Nigerian Cultural Connections” -- Nigeria Public Affairs Program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, Public Affairs Section,
Abuja, Nigeria, and Missouri State University Provost Office and Division for Diversity & Inclusion in PSU 313, 4:00-6:30 pm.

September 28 Deadline: Summer and Summer Intersession 2015 proposals to Study Away Office - Study Away

September 29 President Smart’ State of the University Address, noon in PSU Theater

September 29 Faculty submit Tenure and/or Promotion dossier to Department Heads and
External Reviews due to Department Heads for inclusion in the dossier
