Guest Presentation: Chandra Johnson from the Career Center has been assigned to work with the majors in our college. She briefly discussed her role and the services that the Career Center has to offer students and faculty.

Discussion Points:

  1. President’s presentation at AAA: a general discussion ensued on the various options for budget cutting presented by President Nietzel. It was understood that many of these items were intended to reflect the seriousness of the current fiscal situation in the state and at the university. The President’s State of the University address should help to clarify this even more.
  2. Retirement incentive program: Although no definite incentive program has come forward from central administration, the colleges were asked to examine their list of faculty who are currently eligible for retirement and determine both the fiscal and curricular implications of retirement for a dept or program. The likelihood that really major savings will result from such a program was questioned.
  3. Retention strategies: a variety of strategies were discussed for this semester and coming semesters. The CHPA majors survey will be administered in the fall semester for the first time in the month after midterm exams.
  4. 2010 spring intersession, summer, and fall schedule: Heads were asked to submit a draft schedule by November 16, 2009.
