Items for Discussion:
General Education Update: the Faculty Senate has approved with minor changes the new Gen Ed program, including all previous CHPA courses plus ECO 101 and ECO 165.
Budget Cycle and Update for FY14: the Dean presented a summary of the deliberations of the Executive Budget committee and the various budget scenarios of the Missouri Legislature. He also provided the current FY15 hiring plan for the college.
Enrollment Update: with the opening of spring intersession classes only two weeks away decisions have been made to cancel two classes and others may be taught with a pro-rated salary. Overall, enrollment for summer is quite good.
Promotion/Tenure Matrices: the Office of the Provost has added a matrix that is to be included as part of the promotion/tenure portfolio. Departments are to develop a matrix for each of the criteria (teaching, research, and service) for use by their faculty this fall.
Development of MOOCs: a Presidential taskforce has put together a report that basically takes MOOCs into account but does not recommend their development by MSU at this time. Concerns were also raised about accepting transfer credit from MOOCs and various types of experiential learning and that was left to the discretion of individual departments
