Feb 14 Tom Conley, Abbot Lawrence Lowell Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies and of Romance Languages and Literatures, Harvard University, will speak on "'Theory' and its Relation to the Map and Diagram" in STRO 303 at 4:00 pm

Feb 15 Excellence in Public Affairs Awards Nominations due

Items Discussed:

  1. Budget update – a brief discussion included the Governor’s release of withheld funds from this fiscal year and his desire to increase funding for higher education in the next fiscal year
  2. New Periodicity and Modality System – development of spring 2014 schedule: Heads will be receiving information on training for this new system that will display tentative course schedules for the next three years
  3. Enrollment Initiatives for Don Simpson’s report to BOG: Heads were asked to supply data that can be shared with Simpson’s office
  4. Scholarship applications: Heads were asked to encourage their majors to submit applications prior to the March 1 deadline
  5. Spring 2013 evaluation process: Heads were reminded to have their faculty make appointments to speak to them about their evaluation portfolios and their plans for the coming year
  6. Shooter on Campus information: Heads were asked to work with their faculty to present a short video on strategies to protect themselves and students in a crisis situation
  7. Assessment Survey Software: the Provost’s office is exploring various student evaluation survey instruments and we can expect to hear more on this in the future
