April 8 -- Springfield’s Hidden History of Diversity: A Panel Discussion featuring Holly Baggett (HST); Stephen McIntyre (HST); David Richards (LIB); and Richard Schur (Drury). It will be at 7:00-9:00 pm in CAR 208.
April 9 -- CHPA Research Forum, featuring Dr. Liz Sobel, ANT, who will speak on "Race, Class, and the Cemetery Landscape: A Study of Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri," at 12:30-1:30 in STRO 250.
April 9--12 -- Missouri State University Public Affairs Conference
April 18-19 -- Statewide Collaborative Diversity Conference
April 18 -- Sigma Mu Sigma, the Missouri State University Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, and Noah’s Art are coming together to raise funds for Jacob’s House, a private placement home for abused and neglected children. On, Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 7 – 9 p.m. you may stop in at Noah’s Art (2472 S. Campbell) to create your own “Jackson Pollock-esque” painting on a canvas.

April 30 -- Workshop for Critical Inquiry in the Humanities and Social Sciences presents Dr. Kevin Olson, Political Science, U. of California, Irvine, who will speak on “Chimeras of Political Identity: The Problem of the People in Revolutionary France” at 4:00 pm in LIB 101.

General Education update: all of the courses submitted for inclusion in the revised GE program have been approved by CGEIP.
Good Faith Planner – the Office for Diversity and Inclusion has asked that each department supply information on diversity efforts. Their responses to the planning document are due to the Dean by May 1st.
Projected Course Offerings Database (July 1 deadline to have 2014 data in place) – Heads are asked to update their information in this database to assist students with program planning.
Per Course Faculty Development – COAL is pioneering a new Blackboard page to assist with per course faculty and to insure that they receive both training and necessary information. Further word on this will come later once they determine if it is useful.
Public Affairs Intensive requirement – Heads are asked to work with their faculty to determine what course or combination of courses will be used to fulfill this major requirement.
Enrollment and Retention Process – with pre-registration for summer and fall 2013 classes beginning Heads are asked to encourage all faculty to assist students with their course choices and to advertise their courses.
Accelerated Masters Open House -- COB hosted an open house for its prospective MBA students with the aim of signing up more seniors as part of the accelerated masters program. It is unlikely that CHPA will do the same, but Heads were encouraged to make sure our students are aware of the accelerated option.
