22nd Annual College of Health and Human Services Student Research Symposium

Each year the College of Health and Human Services hosts an annual Student Research Symposium that showcases the scholarly work of our undergraduate and graduate students. This research is mentored by faculty members in the various departments of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS).

The 22nd Annual CHHS Student Research Symposium will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, May 4th in the Plaster Student Union Grand Ballroom.  This symposium is open to all graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in programs within the College of Health and Human Services. The purpose of this symposium is to allow students to present scholarly or creative projects they have been conducting during the past year. The event is free and all CHHS faculty and students are encouraged to attend.

Abstract submission deadline is MONDAY, MARCH 27, BY 11:59 P.M.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is Tuesday, March 27th, (by 11:59 p.m.).  Faculty research mentors are strongly encouraged to assist students in writing quality abstracts for submission.  Once submitted, the faculty research mentor listed by the student will be notified and asked to review the student submission. Poster fees for the Symposium:

  • Posters must fit within a 4' X 6' space on a poster board.  Templates and a tutorial on how to create posters may be found on the College of Health and Human Services web page (under poster production) or by following this link:  If the presentation will require electricity or a table, please indicate the need when submitting the abstract.

  • To have your poster printed, send the file as an attachment to the CHHS email account:

    There will be no charge for printing posters submitted to the CHHS office on or before 5:00 p.m. on April 12th.  After 5:00 p.m. on April 12th, normal poster production fees apply (see poster production webpage for a summary of regular fees)

    • Extra Color: Solid color background will result in a fee regardless of submission date (additional cost of $10 or more depending on amount of color used)

  • The final deadline for turning in posters to be printed by the Dean’s Office is THURSDAY, April 19, 2018 by 5:00 p.m. (CST).  Posters submitted after April 19th are not guaranteed to be printed by the Dean’s Office.

  • Your poster must be submitted using the poster order form (linked here or found on the CHHS website under poster production). You must create your poster using Microsoft Power Point. To submit, email the Dean's Office directly at The poster must be in final format and utilize the 42" x 56" poster template. No changes will be made by the Dean's Office (i.e. if your poster contains errors, the errors will not be corrected). Additional information concerning creation of a poster is available on the CHHS Poster Production website. You will be notified by the Dean's Office when your poster has been printed and is ready for pick-up.
