Spring 2019 Concert Ensemble Audition Information


Auditions are held for all students who wish to perform in a concert ensemble during the spring semester (Wind EnsembleWind Symphony, and Concert Band). Descriptions for each ensemble are available on the respective ensemble webpage. Below, is the necessary information regarding audition times and audition material. Students interested in Concert Band ONLY check new policy below. If you have questions please email Dr. Zastoupil: jzastoupil@missouristate.edu



            Wind Ensemble:         M/W/F, 2:30 - 4:00pm

            Wind Symphony:       M/W/F, 4:15 - 5:45pm

            Concert Band:            T/Th, 2:00 – 3:50pm



WIND ENSEMBLE:  There are openings in all wind ensemble sections. Unless notified via email, all wind ensemble members do not re-audition. 

WIND SYMPHONY:  There are openings in all wind symphony sections. ONLY Wind Symphony members of the Flute, Saxophone, Horn, Trumpet, and Trombone sections will re-audition for ensemble placement.

CONCERT BAND*:  Open to all students by audition. If you are ONLY interested in Concert Band, please fill out an audition form and submit to the Pride Band Office, before November 26.



All students interested in Wind Ensemble or Wind Symphony must sign up for an audition time. All students auditioning will be placed in one of the three concert band ensembles. Sign-up sheets for audition times will be on the window of the Pride band office November 12th. When signing up for an audition please include your full name, phone number, and an email address where you can be reached. If you have a conflict or have any questions regarding auditions, please email Dr. Zastoupil. We look forward to hearing you play!



1.     Total time should be no more than 3 minutes. Please provide 2 copies of the etudes  for the audition panel.

2.    Woodwinds and Brass: choose two contrasting etudes (one technical and one lyrical). 

3.    Percussion: choose two solo works (concert literature or etudes). The two works must be for two different instrument types (for example snare and timpani, or snare and a mallet instrument, or a mallet instrument and timpani - NOT two mallet instrument etudes.)
