Please join us on the beautiful campus of Missouri State University for the 2017 Conducting Workshop!  This year we welcome internationally recognized conductor and pedagogue H. Robert Reynolds, Principal Conductor of the Wind Ensemble at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, along with MSU Band Faculty, Dr. John Zastoupil (Director of Concert Bands) and Dr. Brad Snow (Director of Athletic Bands).

Details about the workshop:

When: Saturday, November 4, 2017, 8:30am-5:30pm

Who: Music Educators, graduate and undergraduate conducting students

Where: Wehr Band Hall on the Missouri State University Campus

What: All day workshop including morning and afternoon conducting sessions with the MSU Wind Ensemble and MSU Wind Symphony.  Lecture presentation by internationally recognized conductor and pedagogue H. Robert Reynolds.

Workshop Fees (includes lunch and symposium materials):

Participant $75 (Limited to 16) - Initial Deposit $40 ($35 additional due for those selected to conduct)

   * Participating Conductors receive podium time with each ensemble and coaching by our clinicians

   * Achieve professional development hours

Observer $40 / Student (non-MSU) Observer $20 (Unlimited enrollment for both)

   * Attend all sessions and achieve professional development hours

H. Robert Reynolds

H. Robert Reynolds is Principal Conductor of the Wind Ensemble at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, in which he holds the H. Robert Reynolds Professorship in Wind Conducting. This appointment followed his retirement after twenty-six years from the University of Michigan School of Music, where he served as the Henry F. Thurnau Professor of Music, Director of University of Bands, and Director of the Division of Instrumental Studies. In addition, he has also been conductor of the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings for over twenty-five years.

Mr. Reynolds was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Music from Duquesne University in 2010, and he currently holds degrees in Music Education and Performance from the University of Michigan, where he studied conducting with Elizabeth Green. He is Past President of the College Band Directors National Association and the Big Ten Band Directors Association.

His frequent conducting appearances include Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, Northwestern University, Manhattan School of Music, as well as Carnegie Hall and the Tanglewood Institute, among others. He has been a featured conductor/lecturer at international conferences in Austria, Norway, Belgium, England, Holland, Slovenia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan, and Sweden. He has won the praise of such composers as Leslie Bassett, William Bolcom, Aaron Copland, John Corigliano, Henryk Górecki, Karel Husa, György Ligeti, Darius Milhaud, Bernard Rands, Gunther Schuller, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and others for his interpretive conducting of their compositions.
