How to Access the Advising Reports
The individual reports of the 2,030 students who took the survey are available to advisors through Advising Notes. “BCSSE Survey Results” will appear in "Transcripts and Test Scores.

The guide describes and explains the important of seven critical areas focusing on expectations, commitment, engagement, and preparation.

What Do First Year Students in 2014 Know and Expect?: An Advising Profile of New Students at Missouri State University
A new advising report is available based on 2,030 first-year students who took the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) during SOAR in summer 2014. The Student Advising Report is an individualized report designed to help understand your advisees background and expectations about their first year of college. This one-page report sheds light on students high school experiences and expectations for their first year.

NSSE 2016 Reports
The Snapshot is a concise collection of key findings from the NSSE 2016 administration. It offers a glance at student engagement and academic challenge at Missouri State.
The NSSE Pocket Guide is a summary of student engagement on campus based on student responses to select questions. This helps prospective students and their families consider student engagement while deciding on a university. It is also used as a resource for admission professionals who work with first-year students.
NSSE’s Administration Summary is an overview on population and sample, response rates, representatives of respondents and survey customization choices. This information can be used for developing future NSSE administrations.
The NSSE Respondent Profile reports on student and institution-reported demographic information, examining similarities and differences between students at Missouri State and those at comparison group institutions.
NSSE Engagement Indicators (EIs) summarizes information about student engagement. Ten indicators, based on three to eight survey questions each are organized into four broad themes: Academic Challenge, Learning with Peers and Experiences with Faculty & Campus Environment.
NSSE16 Frequencies and Statistical Comparisons
The Frequencies and Statistical Comparisons report provides item-by-item student responses and statistical comparisons that examine patterns of similarity and difference between Missouri State students and those at comparison group institutions.
NSSE 16 High Impact Practices gives detailed results about Missouri State students’ engagement that involves learning outside the classroom. High-Impact Practices in NSSE includes research projects with faculty, study abroad, internships and culminating senior experience.

The NSSE Topical Module is a set of questions on a designated topic such as academic advising or civic engagement. For 2016, the Assessment Council elected to use Development of Transferable Skills and Experiences with Writing as the topical modules.

All seniors at Missouri State University complete the Public Affairs Scale (PAS) prior to graduation. This is an internally developed and validated scale designed to measure students' integration of the three themes of the university’s mission in public affairs: cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership.
Seniors at Missouri State University complete the Public Affairs Scale (PAS) as part of the University Exit Exam prior to graduation. This internally developed and validated scale measures students' integration of the three themes of the university’s mission in public affairs. The reports below show results from seniors who took the PAS in fall 2011 and spring 2012 and a pilot study comparing a cross-section of first-year and senior students who took the PAS in 2011–2013.

How It's Used
Questions in the Exit Exam will inquire about experiences related to the university’s public affairs mission and plans after graduation.
Feedback on student experience at Missouri State is essential. Student thoughts inform instruction and planning decisions across the entire university. This feedback is kept confidential and compiled in an aggregated form to protect personal information.
The University Exit Exam is used to assess student learning in general education and is a Key Performance Indicator. Missouri State also uses the information to assess how much student learning relates to the university’s statewide mission in public affairs.
