FRN 735: Advanced French Proficiency
Course number and name
FRN 735 Advanced French Proficiency
Prior learning assessment protocol
Students take an official ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and official ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test (WPT).
Students must be graduate students enrolled in the MASLA degree or who wish to receive credit as nondegree-seeking students in order to meet dual-credit instructor requirements.
Assessment administration details
These are telephonic and online tests, which may be taken from home at any time. Students arrange the date and time. The tests are proctored using a remote proctoring protocol. The results must be sent to the department.
Students pay an assessment administration fee of $100 when they register online via the departmental storefront. Additionally, students must cover all costs associated with the OPI and WPT (registration and proctoring).
In order to obtain credit for prior learning, students must attain ratings of at least Advanced Low on both assessments.
Students may only attempt each assessment once.
After reporting their scores to the department, students must request an Institutional Examination Report Form from the department and submit it to the Office of the Registrar. Students may earn between three and 12 credits, depending on their ratings on both assessments. Only three hours of FRN 735 may count toward MASLA requirements.
