The Sustainability Toolkit is a collection of facts, actions and resources to help Missouri State University employees reduce their environmental footprint. The toolkit provides an overview of sustainability, how the concept fits with our public affairs mission, and the importance of our actions to create positive change on campus and in our community. Topics covered in the toolkit include Purchasing, Paper and Printing, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Energy Conservation, Breakroom, Sustainable Transportation Green Teams and Creating a Culture of Sustainability.

Sustainability Guide

We have created a handy guide to sustainability at Missouri State University. Use this guide to learn more about some key sustainability projects and initiatives taking place on our campus. There is a link to more information for each initiative in the guide. You can also see which projects were made possible through the Student Sustainability Fund! The map icon easily identifies things you should look for as you are walking around campus. This guide is perfect for new students and families visiting campus. It’s also a great resource for anyone wanting to learn more about sustainability at Missouri State University.

Sustainability Course InventoryMissouri State University has put together an inventory of all sustainability courses or courses that include sustainability, based on the definitions provided by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

Please reference this document for a list of these courses, as well as the course code, department, level and brief description of the course.

2009 Sustainability PowerpointSustainability Powerpoint Presentation - Dr. Tammy Jahnke, Dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) has presented us with a presentation entitled “Sustainability at Missouri State University: Continuing Path to Sustainability”. The presentation provides information on past, present, and future projects and initiatives on campus related to sustainability. This file will be updated periodically. The current version available was updated on November 13, 2009. 

 

 

Performance Contract Case StudyPerformance Contract - Facilities Management has entered into two performance contracts aimed at energy management and conservation. Since completion of the first contract, MSU has reduced CO2 emissions by more than 153,000 tons, Nitrous Oxide by 668 tons and Sulfur Dioxide by 327 tons. The University is expected to save $23.5 million in energy costs over the life of the contracts and has set an example of good stewardship of public resources for its students as a result.
