Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

I chose to attend Missouri State-West Plains because it allowed me to pursue a nursing career while also staying close to home.

How would you describe your experience here?

I would describe my experience here as great. Missouri State-West Plains has taught me many life lessons and subjects that will help me be successful in my career.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

My favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains has been how close it is to home. I’m very family oriented, and having them as a support system has really been encouraging and has allowed me to succeed in my courses.

What has been your favorite course? And why?

My favorite course has been Microbiology with Ms. (Ana) Estrella because it is extremely hands-on in the tests we perform for our unknown bacteria. I liked being given a bacterium that was unknown and performing tests to figure out what it was.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

The faculty and staff have helped me during my time at Missouri State-West Plains by always pushing me to succeed. Every teacher here wants the students to succeed and achieve their desired degree. It is such a reassuring feeling when the teacher is rooting for you, too.

How did you choose your major?

I have always had a heart to help others and nursing seemed like the perfect career for me. The COVID-19 pandemic has also revealed how important it is to have great, kind nurses and that reassured me that nursing was the career chosen for me.

What have you learned from the Nursing Department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?

From the nursing department, I have learned many valuable skills that will allow me to be a nurse who gives complete, compassionate care to all of my future patients.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation are to work as a registered nurse at a local hospital and work in either the emergency department or in oncology. I also would like to further my education and get my Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
