Sales management skills help get new business up and running

"I can say I tried something new..." 

For Chris Peak, the marketing department's sales management track brought together two huge career goals: his desire to work with people and his interest in opening his own business. 

He's wasted no time putting what he's learned into action. Last May - after identifying a real need for quality, affordable hockey wear - he opened Peak Hockey Apparel. He says the sales management curriculum, particularly courses like Personal Selling, have helped him communicate effectively and in ways that help establish and nurture relationships with clients. 

Chris also values the real-world perspective of the marketing faculty, noting that they have many years of experience in the field. "It's people that are still active in it," he says, "so they understand what's relevant."
