Living the Public Affairs Mission

A Letter from the Associate Provost

"At Missouri State, since 1995, we chose a mission focused on public affairs. The three pillars of the mission—Community Engagement, Cultural Competence, and Ethical Leadership—drive our academics and our standards. We introduce students and others to liberal arts, diverse people, and creative learning opportunities.

  • Connect classroom projects to community

  • Provide workshops and grants

  • Connect faculty and students to community partners to address societal concerns

  • Model and train students to become citizen scholars who address societal concerns alongside community partners

  • Support Academic Integrity

Missouri State lives its public affairs mission in the region by partnering extensively with area organizations. The departments housed in our division use the three pillars in everything they do while striving to make Missouri State University the best it can be."

-Dr. Keri Franklin, Associate Provost of Public Affairs and Assessment
