Missouri State University and school district/agency policies require some students to obtain a current negative TB test result or doctor’s written waiver (for special medical circumstances). The TB test result is required for all students enrolled in a course in which the student will interact with children or other individuals in some capacity. The TB test must be obtained to meet requirements of the course assignment(s). Students required to meet this policy will be notified by the Professional Education Services office. Verification of a current negative TB test result should be submitted to the Professional Education Services office.
Students may choose to go to a clinic, personal physician, or the Magers Health and Wellness Center on the MSU campus for a TB skin test or TB blood test. TB skin tests require the student to return to the location of the test two days later to have the test read. Positive TB tests usually require a chest x-ray to determine whether the person has TB disease. TB test results are valid for one year.
Magers Health and Wellness Center administers TB tests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday by scheduling an appointment online or by phone 417-836-4000. The cost can be deferred to the student's MSU account.
If the TB test is administered through Magers Health and Wellness Center on the MSU campus, a secure message will be sent through the MyHealth portal. To obtain access to this message:
- Enter the URL myhealth.missouristate.edu, or click the button "Access MyHealth Portal" found on the Magers Health and Wellness Center webpage
- Log in with BearPass Login and password
- Enter birthdate
- Select the "Immunizations" link from the menu on the left
- Save the TB test result message in PDF format and submit to the Professional Education Services
- The TB test must display the student's full name, name of agency where TB test was administered, and the result of the TB test
