Message from the Director

Welcome to the Honors College!

Dr. John Chuchiak, Honors College Director

John F. Chuchiak, IV, Ph.D.
Director of the Honors College
Professor of Colonial Latin American History

As you begin to plan for the next stage of your education, I encourage you to ask yourself some important questions. What kind of classes do you want to take when you arrive at your chosen university? What level of interaction do you desire with your instructors? How would you like to benefit from living and studying alongside your peers?

The Honors College is assembling the most promising students from throughout Missouri, across the United States, and around the world and inviting them to join a community of scholars that is driven by a commitment to community engagement, cultural competence, and ethical leadership. Our students take discussion intensive courses in twenty academic disciplines that explore the great challenges confronting our world, past and present. In these courses you will develop your academic and professional skill sets under the guidance of a select group of the University’s most accomplished faculty members. Our goal is not only to dramatically impact your lives, but to prepare you to impact the lives in your communities.

I invite you to explore our website and to learn more about the activities of our students and professors and the opportunities that are awaiting you at Missouri State. If you have any questions, my staff is available to speak to you at any time and to help you arrange a visit to our campus.

Follow your passion and find your place in the Honors College!
