Each faculty member is aware of the need to accommodate students who may be required to isolate or quarantine during the semester. Faculty have developed contingency plans for how they can assist students during those periods. These may include the adjustment of timelines, modification of assignments, and selective use of alternative delivery strategies to help the student stay engaged to the extent possible.
When the nature of the course or the student’s condition does not allow for completion of the course, the university has existing policies for issuing an incomplete grade, withdrawing from classes and offering refunds.
Academic advisors will utilize a variety of tools to build relationships and have frequent contact with advisees.
Since many advising office spaces are not configured to allow for adequate social distancing, most face-to-face interaction will continue to occur via Zoom. If a student requests an in-person appointment, an alternate space will be utilized that allows for social distancing.
Students enrolled in the texting platform will receive communication from their advisor via text, while those who need to hold phone appointments with their advisors may continue to do so.
University email will continue to be the official means of communication between students and advisors. Students are encouraged to check email daily.
