Selection criteria
$1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to full-time juniors or seniors seeking degrees in the College of Humanities and Public Affairs in either the History or Political Science Departments. Preference will be given to students from Birch Tree, MO or Mountain View, MO. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater, and preference will be given to students with financial need. Recipients must exhibit potential for a career in public service and recognize the responsibility to give back; qualities consistent with the legacy of Dr. David Heinlein, who was dedicated to public affairs long before it became the official mission of the University, and the legacy of Dr. Alice Bartee, who served as a model and mentor for students interested in serving the public good. Evidence of this commitment will be outlined in an essay discussing the student's commitment to service.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
