1. What is a Student account?

Each student who attends Missouri State University has an account in the Banner ERP System. Students can register for classes, look at charges, make payments and look at a lot of other information like tuition, room and board, bookstore, health center charges, etc. Student accounts can be accessed through My Missouri State.

2. What is Transact Payments (formerly CASHNet)?

Transact Payments (formerly CASHNet) is the university's online payment software. Students/parents/authorized payees, can make payments through My Missouri State. Please review documentation on which system to use for specific types of charges.

3. Where can I find my e-bill/Statement?

The statement can be found in Transact Payments, through My Missouri State.

4. Can I receive a paper bill instead of an e-bill?

All students/faculty/staff will receive an e-bill. The option of printing a bill after it is made available to the individual, is completely up to that person. Students do have the ability to opt in to receiving a paper statement. Monthly notifications will be sent out to the students that a statement is ready for them to view. Students will need to login to the portal to view there statements.

5. How do I setup an authorized user? How can my parents view my e-bill? what happens if I do not view an e-bill?

Once logged into Transact Payments, the student and only the student has the authority to grant access to anyone he/she chooses. Parents/guardians will get an email notification with username and password set by the student, which will need to be changed on first login. Parents/guardians will need to have a valid email address to be able to make use of this service.

6. How can I find out my balance without having to call Financial Services or the Bursar?

Log into My Missouri State and follow the following steps

  1. Select Profile
  2. Navigate to the Student Account channel
  3. Select Account Detail for Term; select the Term desired, e.g., Summer 2021 and prior or Fall 2021 onwards.
    This will show details for each term.

7. What happens if I do not pay on time?

Failure to pay by the end of the authorized scheduled time will result in a hold (encumbrance) being placed on the students account for future classes and semesters.

8. What is the interest charge on my account? What forms of payment are accepted?

The interest charge on all unpaid items after the first due date, is 1%. Please review Payment Options for information of acceptable methods of payment.

9. What is E-Check?

An electronic-check maybe used to make a payment online, through Transact Payments. The e-check function within Transact Payments uses the customers Bank routing number and the account number. Please call your bank for information on routing number.

10. Are Tuition and Fee waivers reflected on the e-bill?

Yes, Tuition and Fee waivers will be reflected on the e-bill.

11. If my bill shows a zero ($0.00) amount due, do I need to do anything?

No, this just means that there is no amount outstanding that is due at that point in time.

12. What is a Financial hold?

A Financial Hold is placed on a student's account, that stops future semester registration due to a number of reasons. Some examples are defaulting on payments, checks returned due to insufficient funds, etc.

13. Where can I see my Financial Aid?

Pending Financial Aid information is detailed in the Financial Aid section of your My Missouri State account. Posted Financial Aid can be viewed on the Account Detail by Term screen.

14. What is e-billing?

e-Billing is a convenient and reliable alternative to paper bills. You will be sent an email notification to your Missouri State email account when an e-Bill is available for viewing. You also have the ability to give access to authorized users to view your e-bills and/or make e-payments. Each person with access to the e-bill can receive email notifications when a new e-bill is generated. There are several reason why e-bill is the official billing method at Missouri State. The primary reason is to provide faster and easier service to our students and their parents or guardians. It has become commonplace to perform daily transactions and communications via email and the Internet. Many universities and institutions around the country are using electronic billing as their primary method of billing. In addition to providing more efficient service, e-billing also results in time and monetary savings to both the student and the institution.

15. What is the difference between my e-bill and my Account Detail by Term in Banner?

The e-bill is a web based representation of your student account at a certain point in time. The Account Detail by term lists all charges that are current and up-to-date.

16. If I make a payment on the web, when will it show up on my account?

Payments made over the web will be posted to your account promptly.

17. How can I find out if a payment I have made has been credited to my account?

Payments will show immediately on My Missouri State. Login, choose the Profile tab and click Account Information and then Account Detail For Term.

18. When will I accrue interest on my account?

A finance charge of 1% of the unpaid balance will be applied to the account by the 11th business day of the month following the month of the statement. To avoid interest, the charges on the statement must be paid in full before the statement due date. Required Student Fees (tuition) and Housing Charges will start accruing interest by the 10th of September for the Fall semester, the 10th of February for the Spring semester and the 10th of July for the Summer semester if the balance is not paid in full. The account will receive the finance charge even if you are waiting for financial aid.

All other Miscellaneous Charges (Bookstore, Parking, Library Fines, Health Center, etc.) will receive interest by the 11th business day of the month after they appear on a statement, if not paid in full.

19. How can I make a deposit to my BearPass Card?

You may deposit money to your BearPass Card at the windows in Carrington Hall, through mail (be sure to write 'BearPass Deposit" on the check), or through your online account by navigation to the Campus Life tab, then BearPass Card Management System.

20. Can I get an extension on the payment deadline date?

There are no extensions to the My Payment Plan deadlines. Fall semester is due in FULL by November 10th, Spring semester is due in FULL by April 10th and Summer semester is due in FULL by Aug 10th. If fees are not paid in full by these dates, the student will be removed from the My Payment Plan and will not be eligible to register for any upcoming semesters. A hold will be placed on the student’s account preventing them from registering until the account is paid.

21. How do I find out if I have a hold and what do I do first if I do?

Financial Holds (FF) can be paid at the Bursar's Office. The first thing you should do if you think you are on hold is to check the HOLDS link through My Missouri State under the Student tab, Personal Information, click the 4 sqaures in the top left, select Student Records, and scroll down to Holds. Next, call the department that has placed the hold on your account and find out what they want you to do. The department may ask you to pay the Bursar and then bring back a receipt so they can remove the encumbrance. Any other questions regarding holds can be directed to Records at 417-836-5520.

22. How much is a Credit Hour and the Student services fee?

23. How do I cash a personal check?

You may cash a personal check for up to $50.00 per day at the Bursar's office. Checks should be made payable to Cash and you must bring your BearPass Card. A student may cash a two-party check if it is made payable to the student from his/her parents. Any check made payable to Missouri State University will be deposited into the student's account and the student will not be able to receive cash back.

24. How can I purchase a Money Order?

Money Orders are not available at the Bursar's Office. However, money orders may be purchased with cash at the Post Office located in Plaster Student Union. For your convenience you may cash a check at the Bursar's office, following check cashing guidelines, in order to purchase a money order at the Post Office.

25. How do I make an international payment on my student account?

International payments can be made through Flywire or PayMyTuition. Students will need access to My Missouri State to make these kinds of payments on their student accounts. Review all payment options.
