Summer Visit Day Schedule

Check-in and most activities take place in the Plaster Student Union (PSU).

The schedule listed below is subject to slight modifications.

9:00 a.m.

Check-in

9 – 10:15 a.m.
Plaster Student Union, inside northwest entrance
Grab a nametag and welcome bag at our check-in stations.

Admission presentations (multiple times available)

9 – 9:30 a.m. in PSU Theater
9:30 – 10 a.m. in PSU 313
11 – 11:30 a.m. in PSU Theater

Learn the basics of the admission process, why Springfield is a great place to be a college student and more.

Walking tours

9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Meet at bear statue north of the Plaster Student Union
Take a walking tour of academic buildings with a current student. Please allow 30 to 40 minutes for the tour. Last tour departs at noon.

Residence life (multiple times available)

9:30 – 10 a.m. in PSU Theater
11 – 11:30 a.m. in PSU 313

Foster Recreation Center tours

Foster Recreation Center
The Foster Recreation Center is a place for the entire campus community to work out, play and learn about healthy living.

Exploring the academic colleges

This is an opportunity to meet faculty and staff members who represent more than 170 academic majors and programs.

Take an opportunity to better understand how many students pay for college. Learn about the application process, different types of aid, and tips to maximize your financial aid offer.

Visit booths inside Plaster Student Union to meet representatives from several campus organizations and student support services.

Student panel

Participate in a Q&A style session with current students.

12 p.m.

Residence hall tours

12 – 2 p.m. Meet at bear statue north of the Plaster Student Union
Come on in! Quick tours of select residence halls. Please allow 30 to 40 minutes for the tour. Last tour departs at 2 p.m.

  • Urban Gardening | Darr College of Agriculture
    Urban gardening helps promote healthy food in highly populated areas to prevent food deserts and reduce hunger. Come discuss how your career interests and goals can help address food insecurity across the globe.

  • Short Video Screening | Reynolds College of Arts & Letters
     Take a break from the heat to watch short videos about the College of Arts & Letters, produced with you in mind!
    Plaster Student Union Theater: 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.
     
  • We Mean Business | College of Business
    Learn about life as a Business Bear! Glass Hall is open for self-guided tours. Check out the newly renovated and expanded spaces. Each academic department has information and a representative to answer your questions.
    Glass Hall first floor atrium: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
     
  • Exploring Education | College of Education
    Explore a variety of subject areas, the rich history of the College of Education, and interactive teaching activities during a scavenger hunt.

  • Lab Demonstrations | McQueary College of Health & Human Services
    See Missouri State’s health care education labs in action.
    Professional Building for biomedical sciences and anatomy labs; O’Reilly Clinical Health Sciences Building for nursing or surgical labs: 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.
     
  • K-9 Unit Demo | College of Humanities & Public Affairs
    Missouri State Highway Patrol K-9s play an important role in law enforcement. Corporal Barrett demonstrates K-9 Hugo’s drug detection and evidence search abilities and speaks about Hugo’s tracking, officer protection, building and area search capabilities.

  • Stories told by the Earth | College of Natural & Applied Sciences
    Investigate the impact of human activity on the landscape using an interactive tabletop model of a stream. See a demonstration of how radiocarbon dating works, plus specimens of rocks and minerals from our collection. Finally, see ocean floor samples that reveal the earth’s past climate history.
