I’m originally from Southern Illinois, just outside of St. Louis and was a student at MSU from 2014-2018. I have a B.S. in Public Relations and am currently halfway through my M.S. in Communication. I’ve worked in higher education for three years and love helping students learn about how they can become Missouri State bears!
"You know what the happiest animal on earth is? It’s a goldfish. You know why? It’s got a 10-second memory. Be a goldfish!” - Ted Lasso
I chose Missouri State partially because the school is a bit of a family tradition. As an extended family, we currently have six alumni (and counting) who have walked on campus, and I grew up coming to Homecoming weekend. But I also chose Missouri State because while I was visiting all those years, I met intentional people who were kind and genuinely wanted the best for me. I will always believe that the people on our campus are what makes the difference at Missouri State, and they are undeniably the reason I ultimately chose to continue my family’s tradition.
If I had to choose just one, I would have to pick Prince Caspian from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. I made it a mission during 2020 to reread some of my childhood favorites and read other famous childhood stories I had missed while growing up. While I did love rereading Harry Potter and the tales of Percy Jackson, getting to experience the adventures of Caspian and his crew for the first time as an adult was major fun!
Get involved while you’re on campus! The people at Missouri State make it what it is. Even if you just sign up for one organization on campus, you’ll be giving yourself plenty of opportunities to make connections and lifelong friendships.
