Teaching and directing the next generation of musicians

If you have watched an impressive marching band or heard an outstanding vocal choir in one of Missouri’s public schools, chances are a Missouri State graduate is leading it. We are the music education university in the state, and our graduates direct some of the best choir and band programs in the region.

In addition, our graduates also teach music to younger students in elementary school, inspiring those children to love music.

Graduate education

If you decide to continue your education in a graduate program, your career options will increase, as well as your earning potential. To aid in this transition, you should produce solid undergraduate work and secure faculty recommendations to help you move on to the next step.

Many of Missouri State University’s music graduates have earned master’s and doctoral degrees and then gone on to teach music at the college level.
