Who can be nominated for this award?

Any MSU faculty member with at least one year of experience who is teaching a course may be nominated for this award.  This includes all faculty ranks, as well as adjunct and online teachers. 

Who can nominate a faculty member?

Any member of the MSU network may nominate a faculty member for this award.  This includes: 

• MSU Students
• MSU Staff
• MSU Faculty (include self-nomination)
• MSU Administrators

Where can nominations be submitted?

It is easy to nominate a faculty member for this award. There is a simple form to submit that includes:

• Nominee Name
• Your Role
• Brief description of  nominee's excellence in teaching. 

 

Nomination Form

Nominees for each award cycle will be notified of the nomination by December 1st.  Nominees will be invited to complete an application, which will include information about their teaching.  

Example Application Sections Include:  

• Description of Selection and Implementation of Research-Based Practices 
• Analysis of Evidence of Impact on Student Success
• Reflections of and for Practice

Application Deadline:  February 1st

All applications for the Excellence in Teaching Award will undergo a peer review process.  Applications will be reviewed by the FCTL Faculty Advisory Council, which includes representation from all MSU colleges.   The application rubric will be utilized for the scoring of applications.  The FCTL Faculty Advisory Council will make the decision for the award winners.  

Selected recipients of the FCTL Teaching Excellence Awards will be officially recognized during a faculty recognition event held each spring.  Recipents will receive a plaque commemorating the award, and the FCTL will recognize the distinctive achievement through the FCTL webpages. 

Pleae note:  All applicants will be provided a certificate of recognition as a nominee and will be included in the FCTL website recognition as having been nominatd for their excellence in teaching.
