It’s possible to earn a degree from Missouri State at the same time as your electrical engineering degree from Missouri S&T. Talk with your advisor if you’d like to pursue the dual major option.

Degree plan

You must first complete the freshman engineering curriculum. You will then apply for admission to the electrical engineering program and begin the following curriculum.

Notes about the degree plan

This is a sample schedule. Your actual schedule may vary.

You must take the Fundamentals of Engineering examination prior to graduation. A passing grade on this examination is not required to earn your degree; however, it is the first step toward becoming a registered professional engineer.

This requirement is part of the Missouri S&T assessment process. You must sign a release form that gives the University access to your Fundamentals of Engineering exam score.

In addition, your curriculum will need to follow these guidelines:

  1. Obtain a minimum grade of ’C‘ in: MTH 261, 280, 302, and 303; PHY 203 and 204; Cp Eng 2210 (111); Cp Eng 2211 (112); El Eng 2100 (151); El Eng 2101 (152); El Eng 2120 (153); El Eng 2200 (121); El Eng 2201 (122); El Eng 3410 (215); El Eng 3411 (216); El Eng 3400 (217); El Eng 3401 (218); El Eng 3100 (253); El Eng 3101 (255); El Eng 3600 (271); and electrical engineering power elective. You may not enroll in other courses that use these courses as prerequisites until you obtain the minimum grade of ’C.’
  2. Your advisor must approve all electives. Comply with general education requirements with respect to selection and depth of study. These requirements are specified in the current catalog.
  3. If you drop a lecture prior to the last week to drop a class, you must drop the corequisite lab.
  4. You must earn a passing grade on the El Eng Advancement Exam I (associated with El Eng 2100) before you enroll in El Eng 2120 or El Eng 2200 and El Eng 2201.
  5. You must earn a passing grade on the Cp Eng Advancement Exam (associated with CP Eng 2210) before you enroll in any course with Cp Eng 2210 and Cp Eng 2211 as prerequisites.
  6. You must earn a passing grade on the El Eng Advancement Exam II (associated with El Eng 2120) before you enroll in courses that have El Eng 2120 as a prerequisite.
  7. You must earn a passing grade on the El Eng Advancement Exam III (associated with El Eng 2200) before you enroll El Eng 3100 and El Eng 3101 or other courses with El Eng 2200 as a prerequisite.
  8. ENG 321 is preferred, but you may replace ENG 321 with ENG 210, 221 or 310.
  9. Electrical engineering electives A, B and C must be chosen from the EL ENG 3500 and EL ENG 3410, EL ENG 3540, and EL ENG 3541, EL ENG 3250, EL ENG 3440 or EL ENG 3340, EL ENG 3420, EL ENG 3120, CpE 3150.
  10. The electrical engineering power elective may be satisfied with EL ENG 3500 and EL ENG 3501 or EL ENG 3540 and EL ENG 3541.
  11. Electrical engineering elective D must be a 4XXX-level El Eng or Cp Eng course with at least a 3-hour lecture component. El Eng 4000, 5000, 4096, 4097, 4099, 5070, 58XX and Cp Eng 4000, 5000, 4096, 4097, 4099, 5070, 58XX may not be used for Elective D.
  12. Electrical engineering elective E may be any 4000 or 5000-level El Eng or Cp Eng course except El Eng 2800 and El Eng or Cp Eng 4096 and 4097.
  13. You are required to take 5 hours of free elective credit in consultation with your academic advisor. Credits that do not count toward this requirement are deficiency courses (such as algebra and trigonometry) and extra credits from courses meeting other requirements. Any courses outside of engineering and science must be at least 3 credit hours.
  14. Students must take ME 2340, PHY 333 or PHY 343 to fulfill the Engineering Science Elective.
  15. Professional Development Elective to be selected from EMGT 3320 or EMGT 5514.
