Mat Pilates for Downtown Employees

A total body conditioning exercise that combines flexibility and strength development, Pilates is method of controlled movements that look and feel like a workout. The practice of Pilates focuses on alignment and functionality of the human body. Its goal is to create a strong core to help with balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. This is a Mat Pilates class, so there will not be any equipment used, it is taught as a progression, each week, new exercises will be added, growing more intense and challenging as the class moves along. This is a mind/body class, it works with our body but our mind as well, promotes mindfulness in our lifestyle and other physical activities.

Objectives
If practiced appropriately one can:

  • Restore Natural Balance
  • Improve Posture
  • Tone and sculpt the body
  • Improve Flexibility
  • Reduce stress, fatigue, and pain

Equipment Needs
The equipment need for this class is very minimal and optional. Strongly suggested equipment would be: Yoga/Fitness Mat, Towel, and Water Bottle. If one does not have a mat and would not choose to purchase one, we have mats available to use in the class.

Fall 2017 Session #1

Every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning September 12th - October 19th.
Time: 5:15 - 6:30 p.m.  
Location: Foster Recreation Center,  Studio C  **(Note:  All participants MUST register through the LMS before attending a class.  Doing so will ensure temporary facility access is added to your BearPass account.  Facility access will otherwise not be permitted)**

Registration fee:  $25  (non-credit fee waiver eligible)
Instructor: Louise Love, Certified Pilates Instructor.

Fall 2017 Session #2

Every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning October 24th - November 30th.  (Class will not meet on November 9th or 23rd)
Time: 5:15 - 6:30 p.m.

Registration fee:  $25  (non-credit fee waiver eligible.)

Please register using the new Learning Management System:
- Login at My Missouri State.
- Go to the “Profile” tab.
- Click “My Learning Connection” under the Professional Development section.
- Once there, type Mat Pilates into the search box at the upper right of the screen.
- Follow the prompts to use your non-credit fee waiver or pay for the class.
