Web Style Guide

Style guidelines promote consistency among official Missouri State websites, which help our users find what they need and feel more confident that the information they find is valid and correct.

The Web Style Guide presents recommendations and requirements. While the recommendations are for all University websites, the requirements are only for official central websites, University unit websites and sponsored organization websites. Course websites do not need to follow the style guide requirements.

Responsibility

This Web Style Guide is meant to coordinate with the Web Policy and Identity Standards—Missouri State web developers should review both documents to understand the entire set of recommendations and requirements for developing Missouri State websites. Using the Missouri State web templates is a good starting point for complying with the requirements within this guide.

Developers are free to develop or modify their Missouri State websites; however, if the Office of Web and New Media determines an official central, University unit or sponsored organization website has elements that conflict with University requirements, that site's supervisor will be required to make the necessary improvements.
