Once your web site is running, you'll want to assess how many visitors you've reached. Missouri State offers resources to help you obtain these statistics.
Reports
The University provides usage reports for official University web sites by using Google Analytics.
Statistics offered
Google Analytics provides detailed reports with extensive statistics, including the following
- Site Usage
- Visitors Overview (providing information on types of visitors, usage time, browser types, connection speeds and more)
- Geographical information on visitor's regional locations
- Traffic Sources Overview
- Content Overview
Obtaining reports
In order to get reports, you have to create a Google Analytics report. You'll need to create a Google account using the Missouri State email account (xxxx@missouristate.edu) that has been assigned as a user by Web and New Media.
- Navigate to Google Analytics. Choose to sign up now.
- Be sure to enter your Missouri State email as your current email address. This will also be your user-name.
- When choosing a password, you do not need to use the same password as your email address; but be sure to remember that if you use a different password, you will always sign into your Google account for Analytics with your Missouri State email and your Google password.
If you have used the correct email to sign up, once you have confirmed the account and signed in you will be directed to an overview of your Website profiles, and will be able to view reports on each site Google is monitoring.
