The office of Web and new media encourages the creation of new spotlights as a means of communicating your program’s diversity, distinction and success. A spotlight might profile any of the following:
When you wish to create new spotlights, please contact the office of Web and new media, which can assist you with content development and the production of video spotlights. (Standard charges for video production apply.)
The spotlights system provides a centralized method for entering, formatting and storing profiles. For access to input and edit spotlights (which is separate from Web Press access), email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once uploaded, spotlights can be associated with various keywords and featured appropriately across University websites. For example, a spotlight that was originally produced for a specific department might also be used to illustrate study abroad or financial aid opportunities.
Featuring spotlights on your website
After a spotlight has been created and uploaded, there are a number of ways it can be featured on a webpage. Consider the following ways to showcase spotlights:
- Embed one into a Web page.
- Link to the Featured Spotlights page, where viewers may browse profiles.
- Link directly to the Web address of an individual spotlight (which can be obtained from the Featured Spotlights page).
