Standard (non-Web Press) websites can be edited through network paths. The format of a network address is similar, but not exactly the same, as a website address.
Windows access
On Windows, network access is also called UNC access. Network addresses are in this format:
\\server\\server\path
where server is the domain of the website and path is the folder under the domain. Please note that these addresses will not work if the wrong slash is used.
To access a network address, click the Start button and enter the address into the search box. (On older versions of Windows, click the Start button, select Run and enter the network address.)
Example network addresses
- Organizational website
\\organizations.missouristate.edu\organizations.missouristate.edu\sitename
where sitename is the last part of the organization website address. - Course website
\\courses.missouristate.edu\courses.missouristate.edu\xxxxx
where xxxxx is the first part of the instructor's BearPass Email (the portion before the @). - Personal website
\\people.missouristate.edu\people.missouristate.edu\xxxxx
where xxxxx is the first part of your BearPass Email (the portion before the @)
Mac access
On Mac, network access is also called windows file sharing access. Network addresses are in this format:
smb://server/server/path
where server is the domain of the website and path is the folder under the domain. Please note that these addresses will not work if the wrong slash is used.
To access a network address, in the Finder, select Go then Connect to Server. Enter the network address. When asked to log in, enter your username as xxxx@sgf where xxxx is your BearPass Login.
