Recording Audio

Option 1: Portable audio recorder

One option for recording audio is to purchase a portable audio recorder that records onto a hard disk. The audio can then be transferred to a computer for later editing via a USB cable. You may also need to purchase an external microphone, but many audio recorders have microphones built in as well.

Examples include the Samson Zoom, Marantz PMD 660 and the Sony PCM-D50.

Option 2: Basic recording on computer

Audio can also be captured with something as simple as a built-in or external microphone plugged into your computer. You will also need audio software to record to; examples include Sound Forge or Audacity.
