Twitter is a micro-blogging format that allows you to create posts (140 characters max) to your account using the Twitter web site, an instant messaging client, or a mobile phone. It's a great way to stay in contact with a broad audience of followers and regulate content to a brief format that summarizes the information you are releasing. It can be best utilized to share news and events and to provide links to additional information.
No matter what type of Twitter account you create (University department, development, student affairs, marketing and communications, etc.) you should always engage your audience by responding to questions promptly and providing more information when warranted. While it may seem obvious, please remember you are tweeting on behalf of Missouri State University.
