Adding Media to your Blog

Uploading media to your blog

You have a media library included with your blog, and it is recommended that you only upload small files such as photos to your blog. If you have larger files you would like to include in your blog, you can embed the media into your blog from an external source by following the instructions in the section below.

To add media such as photos to your blog:

  1. From the Dashboard, click the Media menu on the left column. You will see a list of any media files that have previously been uploaded.
  2. Click the Add New link in the expanded Media menu.
  3. To upload a file from your computer, click the Select Files button, and follow the prompts.

You can also view, edit and delete the files in your blog from the Media Library page. Moving the cursor over each existing media option will bring up links under each title to Edit, Quick Edit, and Delete. While editing, be sure to click Update Media to save changes to titles, captions, and descriptions.

Embedding media in a blog post

To embed externally hosted media content you will have to use the Add an Image button or Inline Media Tool plugin, both of which are highlighted in the image below.

If you are uploading images, click the Add an Image button to the right of the Upload/Insert label, highlighted above to the left. You can then browse for images on your computer, use a URL, or select an image from your Media Library that you have previously uploaded.

If you are embedding audio or video, use the Inline Media Tool button, highlighted above to the right. You will then see the following window:

You will need to create and set up appropriate accounts for Flickr, YouTube or iTunes U to use this feature when embedding your own content. Please see the support pages associated with these services for more information. You can also use the Inline Media Tool to link to other's content by obtaining the correct IDs and URLs.
