Tabs:

Tabs are the main organization method of My Missouri State.

Home: announcements, news, events, features
Profile: Displays information specific to the user. (eg. employment details, account balances, parking tickets)
Academics: Displays information about the student’s academic career. (eg. grades, class schedule, registration tools)
Teaching and Advising: Displays information for courses being taught by faculty members as well as information needed to advise students. (eg. faculty dashboard, faculty grade assignment)
Work Resources: Contains information an employee needs to do his or her job. (eg. time reporting, leaving reporting, eforms )
Campus Services: Contains channels that give information from resources on campus, as well as links to other web pages. (eg. wellness works, bookstore)

Channels:

Types – Banner channels, targeted content channels and custom programmed channels

  • Targeted content channels are sourced from Web Press.
  • Banner channels come with the system.
  • Custom programmed channels can be requested with Computer Services or Web and New Media
  • Audience targeting – You can target an entire channel or just sections to a specific audience.

Current roles: employee, faculty, advisor, student, student employee

  • Design Options

- Different widths depending on placement
- Most channels appear similar; channels with inner white boxes are reserved for larger pieces of
content (eg. stories, photos)
- Can include images

Tips
  • Use short text.
  • Can include links to full story/more details.
  • Use headings.
  • Don’t rely on wide content, like photos or charts.
  • Understand that channels are different widths depending on screen size.

Framed pages:

• Regular framed pages open with a large white inner window.
• Banner framed pages appear similar but contain information sourced from Banner
• All other pages open in a new window.

Who Needs a Channel?

Channels are great options for users who have a continual stream of updated information.
