The Web Developers Users' Group met on May 23, 2003, at 10:00 AM in the Parliamentary Room, PSU 313.
Demo of HIPPA Training
Paula Wilhelm, Coordinator of Training and Development, demoed the HIPPA training presentation created through the use of Microsoft Producer.
Microsoft Producer can generate a presentation that's presented through a web browser to the end user. Producer can use an array of files embedded in the presentation, such as audio or video.
Features of Microsoft Producer
- Allows the use of previously created PowerPoint Files to be used
- Retention of information is better through the use of audio/visual presentations
Tips for using Microsoft Producer
- If using audio, prepare a script before recording the audio portion.
- Make sure the content meets legal requirements.
- Make sure accessibility requirements are met.
- Audio is tedious to match up with the visual portion of the presentation. So a good solution is instead of using one large audio file for the entire presentation, use an audio file for each screen.
Web Advisory Committee
Sara Clark, Web Coordinator, commented on some of the current topics that the Web Advisory Committee is currently discussing.
- New Missouri State search solutions are being discussed. Sara Clark, Web Coordinator, would like to hear your thoughts about the search located on the bottom of the Missouri State homepage.
- The Alumni link on the main page will be changed to Alumni & Donors. Also, the Missouri State foundation is creating a new pledge site at http://www.missouristate.edu/giving.
- A Title III grant proposal for a content management system was submitted in March—feedback should arrive in July.
