Photoshop 6 presentation

Sara Clark presented a overview of Photoshop 6. She demonstrated several of the more common functions of the program :

  • Usage of layers for various effects
  • The magnetic selection tool and other selection techniques
  • Transitions to edit various aspects of images
  • The practice of saving files as the native Photoshop format (.PSD) to preserve layers and effects for later editing
  • Usage of filters
  • Usage of the image history to undo edits to the image
  • Undo levels and its limitations
  • Demonstrated feathering and smoothing
  • Usage of the clone tool (rubber stamp tool) to touch up images
  • Color adjustments through editing the color curves

It was mentioned that Photoshop is currently available in the open-access computer labs on all of the computers that have scanners attached. It is also available in select departmental computer labs.

Photoshop 7 volume purchase

Sara is organizing a volume discounted purchase of university copies of Photoshop 7. The volume full version is $128, and $20 extra to receive a copy of the media. Compare to the  Bookstore price of $299. To receive the discount at least 10 copies need to be purchased, and she currently needs six more copies to be purchased. The upgrade version is available for slightly less and still qualifies for the volume discount.
