Fall Break

Fall Alternative Break will take place from October 18th through October 20th

Fall Break Application

The schedule is still being finalized, but will include the following:

Service Volunteer with local Springfield agencies for 3-5 hours per day
Education Learn about some of the amazing things Springfield and the Ozarks have to offer, including Askinosie Chocolate and Springfield History exhibits
Fellowship Explore areas of Springfield that you may not know you have ever existed with other Missouri State students. Social activities are included throughout every day
Reflection Each day will consist of time to reflect on your experience, share your thoughts with others and talk about the social issues that affect Springfield.
Public Affairs Learn more about cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership and how that applies to you as a student.

Thursday (Ethical Leadership)

  • Introductions, welcomes, orientation
  • Service with Victory Mission
  • Lunch at Cooks Kettle
  • Tour of Askinosie Chocolate
  • Social Activities in the Evening

Friday (Community Engagement)

  • Service with The Kitchen
  • Tour of A Rare Breed
  • Service with Community Partnership of the Ozarks
  • Guest Speaker/Conversation
  • Social Activities in the Evening

Saturday (Cultural Competence)

  • Service with Springfield Special Education PTA
  • Tour of local religious facilities
  • Shopping - Understanding of food choices
  • Dinner sharing of cultural dishes
