St. Louis Rams Football Game

Veterans Big Band Dance

Missouri State University Band presents a Big Band Dance. Light refreshments will be served, along with live music entertainment and a cash bar.

Missouri State University Alliance for Veterans hosts Professor Bill Piston (MSU History Department) who will speak on "Fighting for Both Sides: Missourians in the American Civil War". The Hibertones, the newest mixed (men and women) contemporary A Capella group at MSU will present a program of patriotic music. Soloists from our outstanding Musical Theatre Program will also sing pieces from contemporary musicals including Civil War, Parade, and Ghost.  

2nd Annual Rope Pull Competition

The challenge has been issued and your Missouri State University Student Veterans will be defending their title and trophy against the Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) cadets in a battle for ultimate superiority!  Cheer them on as they fight in three rounds of tug-of-war officiated by Navy Veteran and MSU Professor David Claborn.

TAPS Project

Friday November 8th, 2013     10:45am-11:10am     Missouri State Campus

The Missouri State band will once again be honoring our veterans and fallen servicemembers.  This event features 50-60  trumpeters spread across campus at assigned locations. Each trumpeter will play TAPS beginning three notes after the preceding player which causes a cascading effect across campus. The performance opens on the steps of McDonald Arena where the ensemble will perform a patriotic piece arranged by Dr. John Prescott. Military cadets will then escort the trumpeters to their assigned area. At 11:00am the first player will set the performance in motion.

City of Springfield Veterans Day Parade

Join us as we honor and pay respect to all Veterans with a parade on November 10, 2013 at 10:00 am in downtown Springfield Missouri. Southwest Missouri is the Heart of the Ozarks and we are continuing our decades old tradition of honoring our Veterans. The parade route is approximately 1 1/2 miles long and the parade will last about an hour. 

Missouri State Band and Choirs present "A Musical Salute to Veterans" Concert

Each year the Missouri State University Band and Choirs honor Veterans of every generation with a Musical Salute concert. This is a unique chance to experience the talent and commitment of our MSU Music Department at no cost to the community.

MSU Student Government Association Movie - Lincoln

Sunday November 10th, 2013 and Wednesday November 13   9:00pm   Plaster Student Union Theatre

Following the theme set by the Missouri State University Alliance for Veterans "Missouri State Remembers the Civil War" SGA will play the movie Lincoln. Starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field this film is a depiction of America's president struggling to make decisions as the battle rages both on the battle field and within his own cabinet during America's Civil War.
