Susan Koepke, Director

Susan has been working as Director of the Missouri State University TRIO Upward Bound Program since March 2004.  Before coming to Missouri State, she worked at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin for the Upward Bound Program (2 ½ years) and Career Services (1 year).  Susan has a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Psychology in Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Studies and Psychology (double major), all from The University of South Dakota.  Susan is proud to note that she holds certification as a National Certified Counselor (#63448).  

Susan is a native of South Dakota and lived there until moving to Missouri (her entire family still lives in South Dakota).  She is now living in Springfield with her significant other, Jerry, and her “child”, Fluffy the Cat. In Susan’s spare time, she likes to watch movies, scrapbook, and take yoga classes.  She also has some interest in personality typing and handwriting analysis.  

Susan has worked with college students and high school students.  What she likes most about working with Upward Bound students is getting to know them and watching them mature into critical thinkers.

Billy Schroeder, Academic Services Coordinator

Billy runs the Upward Bound office. He often brings his dog Oscar in to help. Billy's target school is Hillcrest.

 

April Stublefield, Graduate Assistant

April is seeking a degree in Secondary School Counseling at Missouri State. She loves working with high school students. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and two cats and baking pies.

Her favorite memory from the 2009 Cultural Trip to Milwaukee is watching the students try to read the German menu. Her target school is Central.

 

Rory Starkey, Graduate Assistant

Rory is a History masters student. He has experience with students of other cultures and used to teach in Saipan. His target school is Parkview.
